Your IFTA Estimate

The IFTA page estimates your quarterly fuel tax by state from delivered loads and fuel purchases. It’s an estimate, so verify it before you file.

Estimate — Verify Before Filing

Every IFTA screen, CSV and PDF is labeled Estimate — verify before filing. CloudTMS doesn’t have the actual route each truck drove, so the per-state numbers are approximate. Check them against your ELD or trip records before you file.

The due date shown is the standard IFTA deadline for the quarter (Apr 30, Jul 31, Oct 31 and Jan 31). Weekends and holidays can move it, so check your base jurisdiction.

If your account has more than one MC, the totals currently cover every MC, not just the one you have selected. To see one MC’s numbers, use the truck filter: it lists only the selected MC’s trucks.

How the Numbers Are Built

Miles: CloudTMS adds up loaded and deadhead miles on loads delivered in the quarter. Each load’s miles are split evenly between its origin and destination states, or all go to one state if both are the same. States driven through in between get no miles.

Fuel purchased: gallons from fuel transactions in the quarter (diesel, reefer fuel and DEF), grouped by the state where you bought them. Purchases with no state are left out.

Taxable gallons: each state’s miles divided by your fleet MPG (total miles divided by total gallons purchased). Net gallons are taxable minus purchased. A positive net tax means you owe that state; a negative one is a credit.

Tax rates: a fixed table of diesel rates for US states and DC. When you look at a quarter other than the one the table was last updated for, a banner reads Tax rates last updated with that quarter. Confirm current rates at iftach.org. Canadian provinces aren’t in the table, and any jurisdiction without a rate shows no tax.

Pick a Quarter, Filter by Truck and Export

  1. Open IFTA in the sidebar. Choose a quarter tab (Q1 to Q4) and a year. (page: /ifta)
  2. To see specific trucks, click All Trucks, select trucks or use a preset such as Owner-Op Trucks Only, then click Apply. Click Clear filter to go back to all trucks. (page: /ifta)
  3. Click Export CSV for a spreadsheet or Download PDF for a printable report. Both use the quarter and truck filter you have selected. (page: /ifta)
