Where in CloudTMS: /settings/integrations, /dispatch
Before You Connect
Create an API token in your Samsara admin console with the vehicles:read and drivers:read scopes. Add cameras:read if you also want dash cam data.
CloudTMS matches trucks by name: each truck's Unit number in CloudTMS has to match the vehicle's name in Samsara (capitalization doesn't matter). A driver's location is taken from the truck they're assigned to in CloudTMS.
Connect Samsara
- Open Settings, then Integrations, and find the Samsara card under ELD / Hours of Service. (page: /settings/integrations)
- Paste your token into API token. (page: /settings/integrations)
- Under What should this connection deliver?, keep ELD (HOS + locations) ticked. Tick Also enable camera data (dash cams, safety events) if your token and Samsara account include cameras. (page: /settings/integrations)
- Click Connect Samsara. CloudTMS tests the token first and shows an error if Samsara rejects it. (page: /settings/integrations)
- To pull data right away, click Sync now. The confirmation tells you how many drivers and vehicles were updated. (page: /settings/integrations)
What Comes In
Truck GPS locations, shown for drivers on the dispatch map. CloudTMS pulls new data automatically every few minutes. The card says every 15 minutes, but it runs more often than that.
Remaining HOS hours: one number per driver (drive time left, or shift or cycle time left when drive time isn't reported). This only updates for drivers linked to their Samsara driver ID, and there's no field in CloudTMS to set that link yet, so expect locations to flow and HOS hours to stay empty. Contact support if you need HOS matched.
Safety events (if cameras are on): the card shows a weekly count. Events show up under Safety Events on a driver's Performance tab only when they're matched to that driver, and that uses the same driver ID link.
Change or Disconnect
On the connected card, use the checkboxes under This connection provides to switch ELD (HOS + locations) or Cameras & safety events on or off. Click Disconnect to remove the token.
Only one provider can be your ELD source for each MC. If Motive or Geotab already holds that role, disconnect it before connecting Samsara. If you run more than one MC, connect each MC separately.
If a sync fails, the card shows the Last error from Samsara.
